Start with the destination dimensions supplied by a website, marketplace, form or social platform. Leave aspect ratio locked to prevent faces, products and logos from appearing stretched. Unlock it only when an exact non-proportional canvas is genuinely required. For a batch containing different orientations, consider separating portrait and landscape files so one fixed size does not distort the intended composition.
Resizing downward usually produces a smaller, cleaner delivery file. Enlarging cannot recreate detail missing from the source; use AI Upscale when reconstruction is more important than exact interpolation. After resizing, inspect text, thin lines and facial detail at 100 percent zoom. If file weight is still high, send the resized copy through Compress Image instead of repeatedly resizing it.
